Open space

Creating new habitats for wildlife

We’ll create more space for nature than exists today, delivering at least a 10% biodiversity net gain. This includes planting new trees, creating new habitats for wintering birds and introducing wildlife corridors so nature can thrive alongside the local community.

Natural green spaces and drainage areas

A space for the community and wildlife

Areas of connected open space are at the heart of the plans. These new areas will be a space for the whole community to enjoy, with room for walking, play, nature and informal get-togethers. The plans will also include a brand new nature reserve to protect and help our wildlife to flourish.

Creation of a green corridor from Hewitts Avenue to Weelsby Woods delivers on the Council’s Local Plan aspirations and ensures accessibility to green open spaces for all. This will also include drainage ponds to further enhance the area at the same time as protecting the local area from flooding.

Nature-friendly design

Bringing you closer to nature

From hedgehog highways to bird and bat boxes, the development will include small but important features that support local wildlife. To help bring families closer to the natural world, we will also provide managed woodland and green open space, including play areas that use natural materials instead of conventional playground equipment.
